In a large bowl, cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture beating until well blended. Wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate for 2 hours. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in sesame seeds. Place cookies in ungreased cookie sheet. Press a candied cherry half into center of each. Bake cookies 15 minutes at 350 degrees F. until lightly browned. Cool cookies on cookie sheet for 5 minutes, remove and cool completely on wire racks.
